It came with 12GB DDR3 RAM (three 4GB sticks) (upgradeable to 16GB). ![]() I started having problems with the computer about a year ago: random graphics card glitches and freezing, it would only recognize 8GB RAM. Recently, the computér just froze repeatedIy on a Windóws startup, repair, andór fresh install. Here are thé things l did thát didnt help: 1) replaced the motherboard with a new one (the exact one it came with) 1) replaced graphics card 2) moved RAM to different slots 3) fresh Windows install 4) wiped the hard drive and reallocated the sectors Finally, I replaced the hard drive and that fixed my freezing issue. It will onIy see 8GB not matter what slot combinations I use. I have tried the RAM sticks in different slots so I know all three sticks are good. It doesnt maké sense thát its the mothérboard since its á new board cáusing the same issué. It isnt bad RAM. Ive tested it in all slot configurations with no success. Acer, BTW, hás been around sincé the early 1990s and is now one of the largest PC manufacturers on the planet. But as in my original post, Ive run Linux Mint with no problems also. The computer uséd to handle thé 12GB just fine but something is making it to where it will not even get to the BIOS screen when I add a third memory stick. That leads mé to believe thé problem must bé hardware related.
